Questions: Plans after doing engineering degree...?

Thank author of this post/commentI'm a grade 12 student who is going to finish high school soon and I was wondering how good my future plans seem. I am planning on getting an engineering degree on either mech. eng. or chem. eng. and after graduating going to a business school to get my mba or be an entrepreneur and start a consulting firm or something similar depending on what opportunities are available. I am choosing engineering as my bachelor's degree because I like science but wouldn't actually like doing technical work or design things for hte rest of my life and I also think that going into business with an bachelor's engineering degree would pay me a lot more rather than just goign with a business degree or doing engineering. What do u think?

Your first and foremost consideration in choosing your college degree is what you want to be and what your interests are. If you say that you love science, then engineering might really be for you. As to your question on whether work in engineering would pay more than going into business, that all depends on you. There are plenty of engineers who succeeded and others who did not. The same goes for those who went into business.

It is an advantage if you earn a bachelor degree, since in any circumstances you will have a good qualification to enter a job. If you think you have the right skill to enter entrepreneurship, go for it. Many people have flourished by running their own enterprise. Whether you pursue engineering or business, I think, they are both good choices. Good luck to you and just always aim for success.

Hi there!

Well' it's really up to you to decide what really suits your needs and wants. Earning a bachelor's degree is a great advantage compare to some who are not really lucky one.. Back to your problem, I think it would be better if you should really take in some considerations like, the availabilty of resources you have in your area. Some places are in need of engineers which, if you have this kind of area, well, I suggest you get an engineering degree.. It's really cool to be a engineer I guess.

Thank you so much and have a great day to all of you guys!

Hi there!

Engineering is really a good choice of degree... I know many people who love to plan structures that are really fascinating.. In seeking for a job, it is really advantageous to have a degree in your belongings.. You must be very lucky if you had already gain this degree... Hope I can gain that same degree and passion you have..

Thank you so much and have a great day to all of you guys!

Engineering is a good choice. But before you decide on what specific course you should take, try to discover your own interest first. You're still young and there are still many opportunities for you to develop your full potential. Try engaging in different activities, you will be surprised to discover more interesting things about you. I'm glad that you're already thinking about your future. Just continue that good attitude and surely you will succeed.
