What do you guys think about starting an eBay store? I am trying to set up different sources to make extra money. Eventually, I would like to set up my own store front. Are there any people on here who took the eBay route?

No, I haven't started an ebay store but there is one that recently opened up near us. I am curious to see what they have for sale!

Are you talking about starting a home based or an actual brick and mortar building? Most of the ebay businesses that set up in a store front here doesn't sell anything to people who walk in. Rather they are like a middle man. People come in with items they want to sell on ebay. The store sets up the listings and handles the transactions. They get a percentage of what the item sells for.

Have you already developed a decent rating at ebay? Any repeat buyers or increase in business? The reason I ask is because before I would jump into opening a full store I will consider if I would have enough clientele for it. I do think it is a great idea especially if you are seeing your business grow.

I am talking about an eBay business in general. It can be an eBay consignment store or an online store. Oh I know about the ups and downs of eBay. I sell and make extra money on eBay but I have other businesses so that's not my main income. I don't put all of my eggs in one basket.

I have an online store and I sell on eBay. I use eBay to sell items in a faster manner.

I have a friend that took the Ebay route and making enough money to live on. It wasn't an easy task and she sell in more than one category.

I like to sell things I have around the house or sell things for other people. I think when I have more time I will try Ebay as another source of income.

Do you have any idea of what kind of goods you want to sell on ebay? Ebay is a great big marketplace. It's easy to make a lot of money but its also easy to get really overwhelmed. The more products you have, the more emails you have to answer and orders you have to follow up on.

Many ebay sellers use dropshipping programs. Drop shipped goods are great because there is no inventory to keep or products to prepare. This keeps your overhead low. The biggest problem with drop shipping is there are already so many people selling the same products, the markup goes too low.

I originally sold hand made baby slings on ebay but it was too much work and my back started hurting all of the time. I searched for a long time and eventually found a way to make a large profit off of dropshipped goods. I use www.cherrypress.com. It's a personalized gift supplier. They drop ship but the difference is you design your own unique products.

I just became a people watcher for a while and made a list of things people were obsessed over. Then I designed a bunch of products in those categories and listed them for sale on ebay. I made over $1000 profit my first month and it went up from there. I've been selling these products for over 2 years now. They are high quality items like flip top lighters, flasks, hand sewn leather photo purses.

Anyway, I don't mind sharing my source but I don't give out my ebay id anymore. (Too many well intentioned people started doing spinoffs or straight rip offs of my design ideas). It's cherrypress.com go there and click on the dropshipping tab for more info.
