| Aquarium We are thinking of installing an aquarium. We want a fairly large tank. Should we go with a salt tank or freshwater. I would figure salt would be much more expensive. Does anyone have an aquarium in your office and what is the keep up like?FYI.......we plan on using a fish pro to come out to do all maintenance! |
| Our office has a saltwater tank and someone comes out to clean it. Good thing, or else those fish would all end up dead!! I think that saltwater tanks would be a lot more expensive but then again I might be wrong. |
| John, I am sure you are right about it being more expensive. I know the fish are higher, but I wonder more about the maintenance of it. I think most office aquariums you see that are 50+ gallons are usually saltwater. |
| It is a little more hassle than freshwater tanks but the fish are beautiful. If you pay someone to come in and maintain then you should be fine. Besides cleaning and monitoring levels there isn't too much more to it. Also you will need to pay some to attention to any strange behavior or "spots" on your fish. Ich can be a problem from time to time. |
| If you are looking for an aquarium in your office, make sure you use a quality service company, because a lot of so called "Aquarium Pros" are fly by night scammers. Find someone that has been in the biz for at least 5 years and has a good rep with others in your area. Check for insurance and a biz license as well. A good rule of thumb for estimating the cost of a new aquarium is to multiply the size in gallons by $50, thus a 100 gallon tank will run about $5, 000 to get up and running. |
