I am starting work next week as a realtors assistant...and need help with phone

Thank author of this post/commentThe main part of my job will be to follow up with clients who have called in, emailed for information or referrals from other clients. Some "cold calling" will also be part of my job duties. The main goal while handling these calls is to book an appointment for the client to meet with a real estate agent form my office to discuss selling or purchasing their home. I have worked in sales for over 6 years now but never in the real estate industry and would like some input on how to effectively "sell" and book an appointment with a client over the phone. I get commission on every home that is sold because of an appointment that I have arranged. Any help in regards to handling objective or what not to say would be great...potentially my goal is to set up a basic script that I can follow while on the phone...not something to read form but just something to give me pointers...any help would be great..THANKS IN ADVANCE.

I am also a newbie in the real estate business and I am so nervous. I am not sure if I will be able to close the deal with my clients or what. This is my first time and I will be starting next Monday. I know I have to sound confident but I can't help it really. I hope that some real estate agents here could help me overcome this. Thank you very much.

Entering a new job makes someone nervous at first, but that is just normal. When you start to train yourself with the tasks and get used to it, I think it will just be easy for you to handle it. Being a realtor is a big challenge. You need to earn integrity to keep loyal customers. The power of communication is important to convince them to purchase a real estate.

First thing; don't badger people who don't want to talk with you. I'm talking about cold calling people here. Second; when you do cold call someone, you have about ten second to get your point across as to why you are calling them out of the blue. Be straight and to the point of what you want and don't act fake. Third; don't take it personally at the mount of rejection you are getting. The agent you are working for can't handle the amount of rejection it takes to get one appointment which is why they hired you to do it.

Adam has a point. You should be patient and tough in facing this job. Rejection is normal in this kind of field. You can't please everyone but you should be professional while talking to them. Go straight to the point and be confident about what you are saying. It is important that you know the different things related to your work. Good luck in your career and give your best shot.
