Does your office track your internet habits? Ours does. One guy got fired a couple of months ago because he was on some illicit websites. I don't understand why he would even risk it knowing that our office keeps track of it. Duh!!
Ha, yeah what is the point of checking out "bad" sites at work?! A lot of people who get to work on the computer do surf the internet though, which isn't really fair I don't think so. Because they are there to WORK and not just surf and post on boards [like this forum! hehe]. Some bosses do allow them to do though but i think if it's not allowed, they should not do it.
If your office doesn't they should for good number of reasons: security: viruses, spyware, employee information theft, etc. Not to mention reasons of efficency.
I know it's not necessarily efficient and you're there at work to do THEIR job, but I'd go get an office job to supplement our income if I could check my online jobs while I was there. It's times like this I miss working at Earthlink. LOL! I hated working there, thought, because the Scientology permeated the very air in the building.
Maybe you can ask for flexible hours where you get an extra hour at lunch to USE YOUR LAPTOP to check YOUR ONLINE WORK.Using an office computer to do anything outside of the office work is extremely dangerous. [for the informational health of the company you work for].
I'm sure that they do. I would think that every company does. Why anyone thinks that they can get away with surfing the internet while at work is crazy.
We weren't even allowed to access the internet. We had intranet where we could only view what we needed to, in order to successfully do our jobs. I don't blame companies for watching internet usage and emails. What you do on company hours is company business.
