| Is it chatting available on Indiatimes mail? Due to security reasons gmail, yahoo, rediff, sify mails blocked in our office. Only indiatimes is available. Can i chat with my friends on indiatimes? If so how to do the settings? |
| There are some companies who would not permit employees to chat while at work, especially the use of the social networking sites. This is simply to protect the security of the office especially for outsiders. Hence, some companies use CCTV to know what is happening around the office during working hours. I think it is pretty reasonable. We don't know what may happen if we just allow them to chat at work though. |
| Seems like we agree on one thing, Brad, that chatting during work hours should not be done, maybe those are the security reasons, however, if you feel that you do need to break this simple rule of etiquette and do a little chatting, you could try SMSing instead as that can be done on your own phone and you can be the one paying for the extra bill. |
| When we are at work, it is BETTER to do our work alone and forget about chatting at all. Because we tend to loose focus when we do open those chat boxes and chat with our friends. We end up to have lots of piled up works to do. Believe me for I have the same problem as well. But you can always check on your accounts during free times on your work. I think your boss would never be angry if you do that. |
| "Free Time"
I think it depends what you mean by "free time":- Your lunch hour, or - When you have an 'idle' moment. If you have idle moments at work you are being paid for, then you should discuss with your boss how to spend your time. On your lunch hour you should be free to do what you want, but not with your employers resources. Check your chats, email, facebook and stuff from a cybercafe not your workstation. It is not just network resources but there are significant security risks. Remember, for the period you are working, ie: being paid your salary or wages, you have no free time as it is all bought and paid for by your employer! |
