I have the same problem in my work place. I would like some suggestions myself. I'm tired of doing everything that I physically possibly can for my job, and then see a brown-noser waltz in and get anything they ask for.

The only way to deal with brown nosers is to ignore. Sooner than later the boss is going to clue in to these types of people and as long as your nose is clean, your not going to get yourself into any trouble.

Don't be jealous of the brown nosers! Brown Nosing exists for a reason... to get ahead. It's a dog eat dog world out there and you need to do whatever you can to get ahead. If you just sit back and wait, your opportunity will never come!

My husband knows a lot of brown nosers at his office. It's a big joke over there - they all know who the brown nosers are and the "head honchos" know it too. They use this to their advantage though - sometimes making them do the grunt work because they know they'll jump at it but realistically it hasn't really gotten them anywhere. My husband thought for sure that he wasn't going to get this promotion he wanted for the past year - there was another guy up for it (the brown noser) and he thought for sure that the brown noser would get it but he didn't...my husband did!! So it just goes to show that if you do a great job, it does not go unnoticed!!

All too often doing a great job does go unnoticed. Bosses know that you'll quietly do your work without complaining. So they give you more or ask you to do more than is required of your job. Meanwhile those who play the office politics game do very little while they look like they do the most.

If you don't like office politics, start your own business.

Yeah, you're right...I do a good job and because of that more work gets dumped on me because they think I can handle it and don't want anyone else to do it. I've told them how I feel and it always goes in one ear and out the other....

If it is too much to put up with, and your salary isn't worth it, or if it effects how you feel at work then leave the job. If you are a supervisor or the bossman, just come out and let everyone know that it is uncalled for and won't get you anywhere. Put everyone on an equal playing field. Let business be business and leave the rest at the door.

Oh you're funny, FootballFan. And this works how well for you? The thing is that unless you work for yourself, you don't get to make the rules or tell anyone anything about how the office is going to be run. If you do, you better have another job lined up. And you want to know what's going to happen at the next job? The same thing!

I basically just suck it up and deal with it. I work as hard as I can and make sure I don't make mistakes. I'm nice and everything. I just don't go out of my way to suck up but if i like my boss. I'm not afraid to be friends with him and if i don't like my boss i won't fake it and be like "dude you're my new BFF!"

I think my happiness is more important than a dollar sign. You can always look for another job. I don't think people should struggle in dead end jobs that they hate. If you don't like it do something about it. Put up or shut up.

I agree with you FootballFan... no one should stay in a job they are unhappy with and they should be on the lookout for something else.

However, no matter where you go to work there will always be the "overworked" and the "brown nosers". It has nothing at all to do with any one specific company. They exist everywhere.

What you need to do is to change your attitude about what you will and will not put up with. You have to decide that if you like your boss and the "other" people you work with and the salary is good then you keep quiet about the "brown noser" and continue to do your job.

If you don't like these aspects of your job then for sure look for something else.

You got that right rowena.... I don't think I've ever worked anywhere there wasn't a brown noser. However, they do get under your skin sometimes and you have to be able to get rid of it or it could affect the way your work is done.

If you let it get to you that will show up in how you do your job. The first thing you need to concern yourself with is your own job and doing it well.

tolerating it is b.s. If a boss needs it or thinks it's attractive, I don't have respect for that boss, so it prob wouldn't work out too well. Yeah, it exists. and the ones that do it have no ethic. and the ones that tolerate it have no ethic. too many fakes and too much phony crap which puts everyone else's job at risk at the organization on a whole in a worse place than it would otherwise be.

Like bullying or any other b.s. behavior, there should be no tolerance--for the boss that tolerates it or the brown noser, (who is really nothing more than a spineless twit who couldn't get by without it because they have a fatal flaw which they are trying to hide) :) yeah.

You know...These Brown nosers are pain in butt. I have one...deal with him every day...Smile in the morning...go out for a smoke break and also take lunch at times...Don't ask me if I have anything better to do or not! You sure can imagine...

The situation here is...the bossman...likes that butt licking...perhaps, theythink i am one of them and build on games with me...! lol
