I have been running a small business out of my home with a partner for the past two years. Our business is expanding and we need more space so we have been looking at office space. The problem is both of us wants the larger office. I will be paying a larger portion of the rent, and the office will be more convenient to my home. Also, my business will occupy more space as a whole. I am looking for some suggestions on this matter.

If you pay more rent, logically you should get first choice of offices, as long as the rent you pay is proportionate to the total space, including office space, that is available. If one of you has a need for a bigger office, such as more clients visiting you, that should also be considered.

True that you pay the most rent but the location of the office is more convenient to you. Your partner is probably making a sacrifice to benefit you in terms of convenience. You should take that into account or else he is going to feel left out in business decisions.
