I to own a arial ott-lite floor lamp, its approx 1yr old. The

mount just broke. I have been looking for this to happen, because it was week. I need the part to fix my lamp, I rely on it everyday. Since I know this is a ongoing problem it may be smart to get more than one replacement.

Came across this link when looking for an electronic ballast for my did's Ott-Lite.

Link states the following:

"PRODUCT: LAMPS - Environmental Lighting Concepts, of Tampa, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 1, 560 floor lamps. The floor lamps are sand colored, stand about 4 feet tall and have flexible gooseneck arms to adjust the position of the fluorescent lights. They are used for reading or by crafters for sewing or needlework. Labels indicating "OTT-LITE TRUECOLOR FLOOR LAMP" on the stand and "OTT-LITE" on either side of the shade identify the recalled floor lamps. Check the label on the OTT-LITE ELECTRONIC BALLAST plug. The plug on the recalled lamps have white lettering on a black label and bear the model number DMBLH-18W or DMBLP- 18W. Craft, hobby and fabric stores, including HanFabrics, sold the lamps nationwide from November 2000 through December 2000 for about $170.

PROBLEM: An electronic component inside the plug can overheat, presenting a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

INCIDENTS/INJURIES: Environmental Lighting Concepts has received three reports of the plugs overheating, including one plug that produced smoke. No injuries or property damage has been reported.

WHAT TO DO: Stop using the recalled floor lamps immediately, unplug them and contact Environmental Lighting Concepts for free replacements. Consumers should call the company toll-free at (800) 842-8848 between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday."

I'm looking to replace the socket on my Ott-Light 20M83AB2. Went to buy a new bulb (prong) and they are expensive. I want to replace the socket, but original has threads on outside to hold flange that holds shade. I know the new models have screw-in bulbs and wondering if Ott-Lite is making the same type of socket (with threads on the outside of socket).
