Small Business and Blogging

Blogs are very popular and beneficial to the small business. Blogs are a good tool to use for internet marketing. A blog is web based so you can update and post new articles anywhere, anytime.

Comment #1 Allison from California -

I think incorporating a blog into a business website is a good idea. It can keep your customers apprised of things going on with your business. It makes your site look a little more personal too.

I think blogs are great for simple content sites standing alone. For an established site, they can replace a newsletter or announcement board.

Comment #3 Flowergirl from FlowerHeaven, USA -

They provide an excellent marketing resource and many are also now using blogs in order to join advertising programs. Attracting people to blogs is rather easy since information can be updated so often.

Blogs are so popular these days that there is competition between bloggers. Believe it or not, a lot of people are racing nowhere to get their blogs published and pinged on a regular basis for maximum exposure (people are pinging every couple of minutes, I've noticed it). Everyone wants high Technorati rankings but they will have to be consistent and add new content and links to their blogs to achieve this. Blogging in my opinion has a low ROT (return on time) percentage. You have to work hard for a little success. This is not one of my top marketing priorities.

Comment #5 Ralph from New York City -

How would you compare blogs to newsletters? (I was thinking of the print newsletters business and organizations send through the mail not email).

Comment #6 Cady from Omaha -

I think if you're a small business, having a blog on your site is a great way to communicate to your customers. Business owners can post whatever they want on their blog...from job openings to events they are holding.

I was saying that a blog could replace a newsletter because I feel that the target audience is worldwide instead of local. The blog would be this effective if you rank high in the search engine and have a successful website.
