Too many How do you decide when you're doing too many small businesses? I'm about to launch another direct marketing business and I'm really excited about it. So I'll have that, Avon, my blog, and the other home typing I do. How much is too much? Thank goodness we don't have children yet, although, I'd choose the children any day. LOL!
Yes, I'm about ready to take on another work at home deal too. I have been addressing wedding invitations for the past couple years just as a favor for friends, relatives, etc. but now I have started to charge for my services. It's exciting yet scary but I certainly enjoy what I do. It's hard to manage everything else I do but I'm sure it will work out.
For me, anything is too much. I have done so many different jobs at once that I just start to go loco. I don't even know which end is up. If you can't find time to eat, take a bath, or clean house then it is time to drop a task.
#3ontario, canada [the EH land] | I guess you really just have to look at it in a rational way and figure how many hours left you have in a day. Do you often feel exhausated and feel as if you don't have enough hours in a day? If not, then you should be okay. |
That's a good way to look at it. Right now I think I'll be OK. I"m really excited about the new venture. Oh dear! I need to call her. Whoopsie!
The right number of small businesses is the number of businesses that keep you busy but not crazy. You need to have time in your day for yourself as well as your business. So take them on one at a time and give each one a few months to start to flourish. The problem that most people run into is they start too many at the same time and they don't know how fast or how big they will grow. Each one will grow at a different pace but if you start them all at once and then they start to take off you will end up not enjoying any of them. So limit your intake until you know what kind of output it is going to require of you and your time.
I have learned the hard way about taking on too much. Usually it ends up that nothing gets done and I just feel overwhelmed. I opted to choose one or two ventures that I enjoy doing the most. I spend my time building up one and then for my more passive income I can let that float somewhat with minimal effort.
